Tile Roof Painting – Concrete and Clay
Painting your tiled roof can improve the quality of the tiles and seal the surface also perk up the appearance of your property.
To maintain the look and quality of your coating we recommend a moss control treatment applied every 3-4 years.
When painting the roof, it requires a little bit more than going up and applying paint, it begins with a proper process ensuring your roof is prepared and ready before any new product is applied to your roof.
Our process Preparation – Stage 1
1. Moss & Lichen Control Treatment
This sterilising treatment is applied to the complete tile roof to prevent mould re-growth.
2. Cleaning Roof
Careful water blast cleaning of complete roof area to remove moss, lichen, dirt and debris. Guttering may need cleaning too.
3. Repairs to Roof
Repairs to all hips and ridging using FlexiPointTM Flexible mortar (applied by a professional tiler) also replacement of any broken tiles or caps.
Benefits
Repointing all hips and ridges will prevent water leaking into cracks as it is slightly flexible and adheres to concrete or painted surface.
Coating Application, Painting Roof – Stage 2
1. Key Coat Sealer
Necessary to seal the surface and bind the old concrete to the new coating system.
Sealer coat helps to prevent loss of adhesion or peeling of paint.
2. Base Coat
This Hi-build base coat is applied to build up the worn tile surface and give good uniform foundation for the final colour coat.
High build product helps fill rough surfaces of old tile and gives more even colour appearance.
3. Final Colour Coat
This Hi-build quality coating application will complete the coating process, this coating applied to a thickness of at least 380 microns.

TileCoat – Decramastic Roof Tiles Preparation – Stage 1
1. Moss & Lichen Control Treatment
This sterilising treatment is applied to the complete tile roof to prevent mould re-growth.
2. Repairs to Decramastic roof
Repairs to tiles, flashings, dents, prevent leaks
3. Cleaning Roof
Careful water blast cleaning of complete roof area to remove moss, lichen, dirt and Loose chip. Guttering may need washing out, followed by a wash down to exterior of your home. This process is only done with suitable Decra tile surface.
Coating Application – Stage 2
1. Metal Etch-Primer Coat
A Zink coating is applied only if the roof is worn and bare metal exposed, it will hold the coating to the bare metal surface. A rust kill converter treatment will be applied to any rust areas first.
2. Decra Chip Coat Paint
This high build acrylic coating is applied to hold the chip surface and bind the new chip application. This will give a textured look.
3. Final Colour Coat
100% Acrylic coating system will blend the coating, hold the chip, and give your roof a new look. There is a choice of 10 colours offered for painting Decramastic roof tiles.
